Wandella was the second senior doe we added to our herd in the fall of 2017. The most noticeable attribute of Wandella is her uncompromising mellowness. It’s very common for Wandella to come up and simply lay her head against our legs looking for a head rub. If only our entire herd possessed this trait, we’d feel like we died and went to heaven !
The most apparent characteristics that jumps out about Wandella is her body capacity, and wide rump, just really solid all around. Another characteristic is her large head with large muzzle and jaw. She has a classic “old style” LaMancha look, something we really desire.
Wandella was bred to our herd buck, Barnowl Argus and second freshened in March 2018 with 2 bucklings and 1 doeling. Wandella performed very well in our June 2018 LA appraisal with an FS88 VVVV rating and logging an E rating in head, back, rump and udder texture. She also logged strong overall mammary scores in rear udder height, udder depth, medial and fore udder attachment.
2019 Updates
We liked the breeding of Wandella to Argus and repeated it again in our 2019 breeding program. A repeat of 2018, Wandella third freshened in March 2019 with 2 bucklings and 1 doeling, all very large kids reminiscent of Argus and Wandella. We will retain her doeling to join our ever expanding herd and is registered as DeLuna Leia.
Wandella continues to mature into a very stunning senior doe. We have decided to retire Wonella from the show circuit and will give Wandella the opportunity to take the baton forward as our most senior girl.
Wandella shocked us in appraisal this year recording a 91 EEEE. We then took her to the Montana State Fair where she went on to win GCH and BIB as a 4 year old. She appears to have finally hit her stride and we cannot wait to get her back into the show ring again.
2021 Updates
This girl just never ceases to amaze us. Of all the does in our herd, Wandella has always delivered the most consistent and in demand kids. We so believe in her, we currently have 3 of her offspring in our herd: Solarus, Leia and Noella. Quickly approaching 7 years old, Wandella seems to be hitting her stride on the milk line where she’s now producing in excess of 11# on test. It’s really hard to find any faults in this girl.
